My philosophy is the best way to handle depression is to solve the problem that is bothering you. But you can not do it alone. Believe me when I say someone understands. I think It is I corinthians the 10th chapter somewhere around verse 12 or 13. There is no temptation common to man but God is faithful that he will not tempt you more than you are able to bear but through that temptation he will make a way of escape. We may not understand why we go through things but if you do not give up you can beat anything. Seek counseling and pray. If you do not know what to say, just say what is on your mind. You may find out that you won't need medication.

It would help if you would elaborate more on exactly why you're depressed.

I know what it's like to be depressed. Just be certain that if you're really, really depressed, you seek help. A school counselor, a family member you're particularly close to, a close friend, just seek help if you're that depressed.

I went through a really deep depression through a better part of last year, but I eventually pulled myself out of it without much help. Thankfully, I had some caring e-mail pen pals who were kind enough to lend a listening ear. Exercising helped a lot, too.

I have been there and it was a horrible time for me and I found it extremely hard to find people who truly understood what was going on.

The best thing I did was seek help, from professionals, books, friends, family. I was seeing a therapist at the time and was referred to a psychiatrist who I worked with and took anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medicine. Slowly, day by day, I got better. It helps to have someone to talk to, to just be there when you cry and to just listen. There were days when I could not go on and one thing that helped me get through each day was going through the motions, even when it took every ounce of my energy to do so. I had the support of my husband who battles cyclical depression and he helped me get through the roughest of spots. If you don't have someone to turn to, seek out resources in your area that can help.

Despite what certain celebrities say about medication, I know they helped me and they help my husband every day. They may not be for anyone, but it is important no matter what to seek help.

I understand completely!! I went through depression for 25 years before I finally got help. No matter what you may have heard, I used Prozac and it completely changed my life. You may have to try several medications before you receive relief, but there is hope and you can recover and enjoy life again. A good physician can help you find an antidepressant that will work for you if your problem is a brain chemical imbalance. Please seek professional help as soon as possible! If you have a family doctor or internist that you trust, he/she is a good place to start. Explain your feelings and ask them for a referral if they are not qualified to help you. I wish the best for you and a very speedy recovery.

One of the best things I found to do when I was depressed is to just breathe. I know that sounds stupid, but there was times that was hard to do.
Find something to concentrate on. The sky, the birds, a picture that has warm colors.
Try to keep in mind that somewhere in the world someone is looking for a person just like you.

Keep talking to people until you find one who is really willing to listen to you, not just offer advice. Try calling local Christian churches and asking if they have anyone trained to give counseling. They are usually really good listeners and it doesn't cost you anything. Also, spend time out in the sunlight each day. Get up really early and go for a walk. Take deep breaths. Start a journal. Sometimes it helps to write down your feelings. It's also helpful if you have trouble talking to others about how you feel. If necessary you can show them your journal.

I have this feeling especially around the winter, I feel like I have nothing to look foward to in life, nothing to get up for.
