If you put you hands on the rail you might actually be taking alot more of the load off than you think. Other than that, as long as the treadmill distance calculation are right, it's the same. Lots of it is just in your mind.

Actually, the track outside is much harder than the treadmill because you have to contend with environmental factors such as dirt. Your feet will need to grip the ground because it is not as smooth terrain as a treadmill. This gives you a harder workout.

that's a great question, I'm just the opposite! Treadmills are so boring to me. They say that on an actual course, it is more difficult because you're moving against all the g-forces whereas on a treadmill, it's aiding in some of the movement. So in actuality, you are getting a better work out when you are not on a treadmill.

Well its easier to breath inside because there is no pollution and the humidity is just right. Plus when you are on a track all you are thinking about is "run this cirlce run this circle" When you are on your tredmill everything is going smoothy. Its just as good for you to run on a tredmill as it is outside. Especially if the tredmil is at an incline. But being outside and sweating more you burn more calories. Not enough to make it worth it though.

Running around a track is probably boring for you. When I run outside I like to run to someplace, and I find I don't like running on a treadmill. It is the same excerecise though.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

as long as you get to your target heart rate and keep it there for as long as you intend, it doesn't matter whether you are running on a treadmill, on a track, on the sidewalk, or underwater. The benefits will all be the same.

No, I think the terrain changes outdoors and becasue you are running by scenery and not lookin at a clock it goes by faster.
