When backing up DVD's, how to I burn only the actual video and NOT the special features onto another disc to conserve space?

slysoft.com has a program called CloneDVD that allows you to select exactly what you want on a copy. If you don't want previews or extra languages or any other "extras" you can skip them.

You can get DVD ripping packages which allow you to select which parts of the DVD you'd like to back up. I don't have any particular recommendations, but you should be able to search for "dvd ripping" and read through the features to find one that does what you want.
