This is a major undertaking! Many of the mustang boys will tell you this. Far easier to find a factory 5.0 T-Bird. There are more differences than just the engine to contend with. DIfferent engine sensors, computer, engine weight, motor mounts, exhaust, suspension coil springs, radiator, etc.

You will have better luck and a better engine if you went with the 4.6 V8 that's the V8 they came with not a 302. A 302 should fit but I would check around first to make sure or just go with a 4.6 much better engine.

Should fit right in - change the motor mounts and get the computer from a donor car, hook up the exhaust, & go!

I had a 91 Taurus with the 3.8 v-6 and the axod tranny...the tranny died. Found out that was a bad tranny...axod's suck.
