It's alright to not like your siblings. Sometime's I don't think I like mine, either. We're very different and have different ideas about life and living it. Sometimes family like that can suck the life right out of you and bring you into a depressed state of mind. I'm sure you don't want to be mean to them, but I'd just let them know that you need your space and that trying to keep an ongoing relationship with them is just not viable.

First, why does this make you feel like your life has just started after the death of your parents? Why do you want to keep that feeling? I live far away from my parents and siblings and I miss them. Remember blood is thicker than water and if you are ever in need of help, you may need the help of your brother or sister.

I am the oldest of eight. Some sibs I am close with, one I have virtually no relation with. Your life starts when you finally feel you can move ahead. You keep that feeling, as long as your are living a full and satisfying life. BUT, if you separated yourself from sibs because of unresolved issues, you will never be truly at peace. Those issues will show up in other ways. Believe Me!

Just go with it. It doesn't hurt to call and say hello once in awhile but there is no need to get together every night. I also have grown apart from my family. I see them on holidays and special occasions. But for the most part it is me and my gf. I just don't share the same interests with them. They usually work or hang out at our dad's bar. That is not my lifestyle. Good luck.

The same thing happened to me. The best thing to do is to build your own family unit and support with your husband and children. Make your own traditions and memories.
