I know, that they can't stop me... but i respect them, i would rather convince them to let me go.. instead of me just going into the army by myself... i mean what did you sayy to them to let you go?

Tell them you will get great training and it is a way to make a great life for yourself and a future for yourself and if you plan on getting married down the road a furture for that person also. Being in the military takes a lot of pride and if it is something you want to do then you need to do it if your parents don't want you to. When you graduate basic training and AIT they will be proud of you, then you will have accomplished something not everyone can do.

My husbands family didn't want him to join either, now they are very proud of the things he has accomplished, they even went to his graduation.

I don't see why they wouldn't want you to live a life of honor. Just wait until you're eighteen. Then you can join whatever service you want. I would personally suggest any of the four except the army. The army's too big, so you get pulled in fifteen different directions.

I would sit down and talk to them about why they don't want you to make this choice. This will give you a chance to address their concerns and get their approval. As everyone has said, you don't need their permission but if you value their opinion and want them to feel good about your decision this is the way I would go about it. Your recruiter should be able to give you some info to give you the information you need to be able to address their concerns. If you still can't get their approval, I would join anyway. In the end they are most likely just concerned for you and will be proud of you.

In peacetime, most parents think the military is a good choice. But in times of war, like now, they are worried about something happening to you. They love you and they want you to be safe. As others have pointed out, if you're 18, you can make your own decision.

If you are over 18..you on your own.
If not and you are determined to join Army I guess you can get yourself legally emancipated.
