Travel, zoo, learn a foreign language, plant and maintain a garden, cooking, build a crystal radio, visit library/join book club, go to a museum, but mostly... Stay off the internet and away from TV!

Whenever there is a "block party" go to it. Take in summer concerts (outside and free). Walk on nature trails.
Get a tourism brochure for your city and do as many things in it that they mention. You might even be able to get some coupons at your tourism place.

when I was ten, my daddy used to take me down to the swamp an throw me in, and the gators would come up after me and I would run like a rabbit, he'd say what you learn boy? I would tell him I learned not to come to the swamp no more.

CHECK INTO CHILDRENS MUSEUMS THEY ARE GREAT FUN AND AN AWSOME LEARNING EXP. THE ZOO IS GREAT TOO or if cash is tight hikes are a classic..........sorry about the caps i for got them on
