i live in ca....in the valley......and i mean, when is it time to take it down so they will know when its time to leave......(to migrate....if they migrate)

Depends on where you live.. we live in Florida.. so it stays up all year.. when we lived in NJ we left it up spring through the first snow. or freeze then it was put away until spring again.

we live in the mid west and put the feeder up 1st of April and take down the middle of October or end, for the ones going south for winter

From the middle to end of Setember is as quickly as I take mine down or quicker if the climate gets cooler previously. you do no longer choose them coming on your feeder till it particularly is too previous due for them to circulate south.once you notice the numbers you have feeding decelerate,take them down till next spring. they are the lovliest little birds and that i'm purely pondering them.Watch them by utilising the hour on end and wait for the subsequent spring.

my mother in law says not to take the feeder down for 2 weeks after the last bird you see.....

After a few days if they are not drinking it.
It will go bad and they will get sick off of it.
If they are driking it you should not have any left to worry about.
