My son since he was born never sleeps and seems to be getting worse. He sleeps about 8 hours a night (Not all at once, wakes every few hours still) If I'm lucky he will sleep 1 to 2 hours through the whole day thats the way it has always been. I don't really believe in letting them cry but I have tried that. 20 min with out even going in the room, after that he was still screaming and soked from sweat and tears. The last week has been even worse, thought he might be teething not sure.

I think that at 7 months he should be sleeping more than that, like 14 hours or so. Talk to his pediatrician, as he might have some condition you are just unfamiliar with. Maybe he's allergic to something or lactose intolerant and you don't know about it.

He should be sleeping around 16 hours in a 24 hour period. He needs 2 naps a day, about 2 hours a piece, and you should put him down at night no later than 8 pm, 7 is better. He really should only spend 2 hours awake at a time, keeping a baby awake in hopes that they will sleep longer is a sleep myth, it causes them to become overtired and makes it physically impossible for them to fall asleep and stay asleep. The cry it out method works, it's hard to listen to yes, but it's the best for him. He needs to learn how to self sooth or you'll soon be complaining about your 2 year old that won't sleep in his own bed. I tell this to all the parents of the kids I keep in my home day care and they never believe me at first, but after 1 week, 2 max of us working together to get good day time sleep and an early bedtime, they are always shocked at how much better their child sleeps at night. Good luck.

If you put them to bed at about 9-10pm they should sleep till about 6-7am then go down for another sleep in the morning about 10-11am say for about half hour to an hour then another sleep in the afternoon for about an hour to an hour and a half......but it also depends on how many times a night the baby wakes up.....
