You can get the same results as running, if you walk at a brisk pace. When you are saying you're "stressing out your leg muscles" are they hurting? Are you just beginning your program? Consider this: walking for 10 minutes to warm up, then run for 10, walk for 10, run for ten. Try alternating running and walking, or put the running aside for a week and walk fast for about 30 minutes, you'll get the same results and with no added impact to your knees, legs, feet, joints, back.
If you do decide you want to keep running, walk for at least 5 minutes first to get your muscles warmed up. Starting to run right away without warming them up first can cause some injury to them, and then you're "on break" for awhile.
Oh and to answer your question (finally!) yes, walking and running every other day will certainly burn fat. Hope this helps....

Without I am dead in 10 minutes with it I can go for 30 minutes or more. I just gave one to a friend at work to try when he plays soccer. He ran a mile before the game and went the whole game nonstop and he just started playing again 2 weeks ago. Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming,running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions,pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull,leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

yes you will. The best times to burn fat is in the morning before breakfast so try to do your running then. Dont eat or drink anything besides water beforehand.

im doing the same thing as you sort of i try and do 1.5km a day or i bike try somthing like
20 minute run monday
tuesday 20 minute bike ride
20 minute run
20minute bikeride switch it up
i might not be right but it feels like im cutting of my gut

for sure. just keep it at a good pace and go hard. as long as you go hard it dwont matter about skipping/ going eeryother days. because recovery is the most important and when our body adapts/reacts to the workout.
