Yes and No.
There are some "human" foods that are toxic to dogs. Chocolate, onions, grapes and certain kinds of nuts for example. With cooked meat you must be careful about which bones you are giving your dog. Chicken bones when cooked can splinter and you dog can choke on them. With other bones you must ensure that they are big enough that your dog can not swallow them whole and possibly choke on them.
Some people choose to feed their dogs an entirely "human" food diet. It is referred to as the BARF diet. I can't give you many details about this as I don't feed my dog this way. I do know that it involves raw meat, uncooked vegetables and vitamins. Some specialty pet food stores now sell it prepackaged now for ease of use. This diet has been shown to have great benefits for dogs that have allergies as you are making the food you know exactly what is going into it.
In general the occasional piece of leftover steak is OK for your dog but I wouldn't make a habit out of it or you will end up with a dog that begs. If I am going to give my dog a piece of leftover steak I put it in his bowl, never from the table or your plate at a BBQ.
Hope that helps!

Feeding human food can be bad for dogs. Some dogs are more affected by it than others. A little bit of grilled chicken or green beans are good for your dog. Moderation is the key. And sweet stuff especially chocalate is very bad for dogs. It is best to keep your dog on a high quality dry food.

That is a huge myth.. there are many many people who are switching from commercial diets to all human diets for their cats AND dogs. In fact I had a dog who's vet told us to only feed her rice and chicken and beef, she had a wonerfully healthy and long life.
Yes meat and veggies are wonderful for dogs... you can also do raw or cooked.. but I would suggest cooked of course with no seasoning.
If you check packages of dog food it is filled with animal by-products which I will not go into detail what all is in there.. but it is not good for them to eat... and then there are also tons of fillers.
So good diet of meats and veggies would do your doggie good and possibly make it easier since everyone can eat together!

It is a myth
people say it because dog food has vitamins and stuff for dogs.
plus certain things you cant give to dogs, like cooked chicken bones. these go brittle when cooked and can get stuck in the dogs throat and even peirce their insides...
all other meat is ok
it is actually good for their teeth to give them offcuts and stuff from the butchers and large bones. cleans their teeth...
but what dog doesn't love a bbq... they get heaps of attention plus delicious people food!

Human food is perfectly fine for dogs to eat.. As long as it is a bigger dog. It is not good to feed a small dog a lot of human things.
Also, dogs cannot eat chocolate.. Or cheese.

I do feed my dogs every now and then meat left over from dinner. Never any bones. I don't believe in feeding raw meat though.
