Okay, I KNOW that smoking cigs is disgusting.. you can't GO anywhere and light up; it makes me smell terrible and I'm getting those smokers lines on my top lip... Why am I having such a hard time quitting? I am allergic to latex and adhesives so can't use the patch, have metal jaw joints so can't chew the gum.. refuse to take the "crazy" pills since I have so many allergies to drugs.. any ideas, anyone? Go ahead and berate me.. I prolly deserve it!@

Smoking is like an oral fixation...so sucking a lolly pop helps...i also cut up straws and would hold them in my mouth....it's hard...but you will feel so much better once you quit!! stick with it!

I quit smoking not once but twice and I had been smoking foe six years know I havent smoked for the last seven months so let me give you some good tips. No one can tell you to quit you should train your mind that you want to quit. Then you should wake up every morning before you quit visualising your self without a ciggarrette. When you stop dont cut down stop staright away.Chew very strong mint gum every time you crave for a cigarrette. If you feel the urge to smoke again think of all the different types of cancer you can get from smoking. I hope this helps.

I quit 30 some years ago. When you realize that cigarettes hurt your health .....you can quit cold turkey. Thats what happened to me. I watched my peers smock and caugh and when Ireaklized what I liiked like ....I quit. It wasn't hard and I took a great deal of satisfaction in being able to control my life. I have had open heart surgery and if I had NOT quit.....I would not be writing this now .LOL

try hypnosis, not a group thing but individual this works, and get your doc to give you a prescription for a nicotine inhaler, it works just like smoking but with out the smoke, so you first break the nicotine addiction by slowly reducing your nicotine intake each day then you can break the oral habit of having the hand / mouth action the place i work is going smoke free the end of the year so i will be doing this too! good luck!

First, you don't deserve to be berated because you smoke and are having trouble quiting. I would with all your allergies and such the best thing would be to quit cold turkey. Don't buy any more, if you don't have 'em ya can't smoke 'em.

i have actually had several patients tell me that the way they finally quit smoking was at the register. stop the act of buying the cigarettes. when you go into the store to buy cigarettes, tell yourself NO! it has worked for them.
