Only if they were done by a professional at a high quality salon. I see way too many people with horrible looking extensions. If you really want to do it spend the money for good ones or save up for good ones.

I have them in right now, my hair is about 20" long with them in. It depends on whether you have caucasion hair, or african hair. The method is a little different for caucasion. I have had both braided in, and woven in extensions before. It is true, you have to get the best "wefts" possible. I use real human hair. It is very expensive, nearly $700 for 3 pieces of 24" wefts, but they can be re-used many times. Do not go to beauty supply places and get synthetic hair, it looks like crap. I do not reccommend glue, wax, or any other attachment method other than hand tied. I am able to wash, dry and style my hair in virtually any style, except pigtails. As my hair grows, the extensions fall down a little. Every 6 weeks I need to have them re-tied, and cut in, to make them look natural. Human hair extensions can also be colored. If you are blonde or light haired, make sure your hairdresser orders European human hair, not Aisian hair that has been processed blonde. It's coarser hair, and more damaged. European hair will be more expensive but worth it, and look more natural if you have light or fine natural hair. Hand tied hair extensions are basically braided with very thick thread (upholstery thread), to small sections of your own hair, extremely close to your scalp. To the tender-headed, having them put it hurts like hell for the first day or two, but after awhile you get used to it. Take some ibuprofen before you get them in. Usually I get 3 to 4 rows of wefts tied in. It takes about 4 hours, including cutting them in, and foiling my hair to match the wefts. I prefer hand tied wefts to any other method because if one should come loose, I can easily "sew" it back in place to another weft, just by using a curved needle and some upholstery thread I have at home for emergencies. My hairdresser is always booked solid, and hard to get in without a week's notice.

Find a salon that does it. They either put extensions on piece by piece or glue in a whole piece . It's expensive and you will hate it. When the wind blows you can see the extensions . when you sleep you can feel the extensions. They suck. Grow your hair.

it is done thru a salon
and it depends how advanced they are
now they have a sort of wax and attach it to your hair
they use to plait them into your hair, but that made brushing your hair hard.
with the wax it is really simple to take out... all they do is basically melt the wax and the extention comes out with little or no damage to your hair.
the old way most people had to cut them out.

You need to get them done at a place! :) They are way too hard to do by yourself! When I got them I hated them! When I would put my hair up in a pony-tail you could see them! I could fell them when laying down! I just did because the lady who cut my hair cut it too short!!!!

go to a beauty salon that does it RIGHT. dont go to fake places that think they know how to do it but it comes out looking tacky! make sure you're specific about what type of weave or "extensions" you want. its either braids, sew-in or glued-in tracks.
