Actually, I meant that the article itself, written by a Christian with tolerance towards Wiccans and any others being discriminated against by the government, was refreshing! I know that it's an awful piece of intolerance from the government, and as a Wiccan in the military, it worries me that I might not get my symbol of choice when it's my time to pass over into whatever comes next.

No its not, and i guess that's the answer your fishing for lol. I would look deeper into this though. Christianity Today from what I can garner has no announced doctrine so their agenda in putting this out is cloudy. I am in military service, and though the military is more up on things (Wicca) than the Dept of Veterans affairs, I can tell you that Wicca is a recognized religion that is not only placed on dog tags but has chaplains for and meetings. I would like to know if the other memorials have religious symbols also. If so the article still does not state at what point the two parties are at odds. The DVA might just have to look into it because this is the first request for this type of symbol (aka they just don't know about it) They obviously aren't in court about it yet.

As much as I think religious tolerance concerning Christians is dangerous, the US governmental Depts should definitely put whatever religious symbol someone wants on the plaque and I think this issue will be resolved and we will probably not hear of it again.

Hello Ally.. :)

I am a Christian..and no this is not religious tolerance..it is INTOLERANT.. :(

Though I am not of the same faith..we still should respect the wishes of his spouse..we have no right to stop them from having the symbol placed at his grave..He was killed for defending his country, whick makes it all the more reason to allow it..

In Jesus Most Precious Name..

I think that it's crap that the government won't let his family put his religious beliefs on the stone. It just goes to show that the government is trying to take over every aspect of our lives. And that the Christians are trying to take over the government.

Thank you, Madame for sending it out! The article was a surprise, coming as it was, from Christianity Today, but I'm glad some are finally starting to get the message of tolerance. Thanks again. I forwarded the page on to friends. Please stay safe wherever you are and come home in one piece.

I'm not surprised. A lot of people now are understanding and don't see people by religion, but many people (too many) still are too quick to jump to conclusions. It's sad to see that our own government is still unaware and ignorant to all religions. Thanks for bringing this up, and I'm sorry that this is still going on.

Downright inspiring. Thanks for the link. Pardon me if I don't read anything else on the website, though; I don't want to be disappointed.
