Check with the airline. They all have their own rules. Normally it's limited to domestic animals only -- cats, dogs, gerbils & hamsters.

It also depends upon where you are flying to. Many places have quarantine laws and you must arrange for quarantine prior to departure. Hawaii, the UK, and Japan all come to mind from personal experience. There are probably others. If the quarantine arrangements have not been made, the animal will be rejected by the airline.

I think as long as its in a cage and it fits under the seat you can.
Unless its a wild animal or an endangered one.
Ferrets might be considered wild .
