Nope.

The real tragedy is people want to believe lies before truth.

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I do know this. He straight out lied in his book. He claimed in his book that the priory of sion was founded in 1099. He listed that as a fact. The fact is that it was founded in 1956 by a guy who was convicted of forgery and fraud in French courts for forging documents and trying to plant them in the French National Library. These forgeries were supposed to make the organization he founded look like it had been around since 1099. His co-conspirator even confessed it was all a hoax. And yet our old buddy Dan lists the founding date as 1099 under the heading FACT: Rather misleading don't you think?

no. Dan Brown is a writer, he wrote a story. that's it. All the carp about blasphemy, is just stupid. Its a story and nothing more. No where in his book did he say "hey, this is the truth".

I cannot say if it is blasphemous or not - it was quite intriguing and a page turner - but I would not want to be responsible for the many lives that have turned their views from Christ because of what he chose to use his talents for - it is his talents he will be judged for by Christ. Just imagine if he had bothered to write a non-fiction of the power of Christ in his life - then he would have a heavenly reward that is far more precious than all his money will ever buy him.

no but it makes sense!
the da vinci code exposed a lot of shocking revelations that seem to play part in contemporary culture..the book was widely shunned by the roman catholic religion who supposedly concealed the story of jesus and mary magdalene.
im not a christian so i dont feel strongly against the notions set however, to make up a story on the basis of religious figureheads to sell books ultimately seems to raise ethical issues in itself.
however, the nature of the book and the logic it poses gos against christian teachings such as the idea of bachelorhood in such periods of times seems unlikely.
jesus being married seems to make sense in a logical perspective although i would criticize another's beliefs.

whatever the weather...its a BRILLIANT read!
i thoroughly enjoyed the book and reccomend it!

Blasphemy would be tough call, I wont say either way. I like to keep my measuring stick short, but he definitely caused people to stumble.

Perhaps, because even though he admitted his book is fiction, the book still took unnecessary liberties with Christ's life in order to get rich and famous.

Please be more specific, where did he supposedly commit blasphemy? In his book? The book is FICTION, so whatever he says there isn't assumed to be his own personal thought.
