my freinds and boyfreind are always trying to have staring contests with me and i cant do it. it makes me really uncomfortable and i dont understand what causes that kind of thing. is it a fear or just a dislike of mine to hold eye contact? (what kind of topic can i even put this question under??...)

That's totally normal to you long eye contact could be consider intimate or a sign of intimidation none aggressive people or shy people all ways have a hard time with long eye contact.

Look at there nose or there eyebrows, and don't really think about what you are doing. Think about what you are doing tomorrow or just day dream, let your eye's relax and go out of focus. As long as they think your looking at them then it will be fine. I do this when I go to job interviews. I don't like to look people in the eyes either. Mine is definitely a fear.

Yeah, i have the same problem and i am painfully shy unless i am totally comfortable with someone. I was told that if you look at someone right in between their eyes just above the eyebrows they will think you are looking them in the eye.

i guess i cant keep eye contact because im always worried that other people are thinking sometihnig bad about me or making fun of me. but idk bout u. it might be the same though. hope i helped? =]

I heard it called infereority complex, i guess that means you kinda feel wimpy around other people.
