You're trying to say the government was behind 9-11? Please, go back to reading Harry Potter and playing computer games. Stay away from conspiracy theories.

Who said that the American people have overlooked anything?
I am pretty sure that most people that care are slowly but surely seeing what has happened over the last couple of years. Then again, there are loads of people in the country that dont care simply because they have enough problems to worry about just making an honest living ( and of course the dishonest people don't really care either)
Something that you have to keep in mind is that yes this is America but it is by far run by big money and most of the American people don't have big money so it is very difficult for any individual to have much of a say in anything

Look at this sight. (WANT TO KNOW.INFO) and read the 60 page report on 9-11. Not all Americans overlook the goverment lies. Read this report at the bottom where it starts 2 days before 9-11. Unreal the warnings we had and nothing was done.

A very broad question indeed. I am not a great supporter of the Bush administration but I also believe that there is less coverup concerning what happened on September 11th 2001 than is being pesented by conspiracy theorists.

People are more willing to believe any little lie that makes them feel safe. G.W. is a freaking wuss and in order to destroy Saddam for his daddy he waged war on his own country to get the public pissed off at Iraq. This in turn got him the public outrage he needed to go into Iraq without too many questions. People fear what they don't really know and don't really want to know. So many of my fellow countrymen are too damn scared to look at the obvious.

Many Americans have become complacent with the way things are, and don't pay too much attention to what is going on. How many people can even name the three branches of our government, or who the vice president is? It is sad that so many people just don't pay attention, and have no clue as to what is really going on and how things really work in our government.

It's not fear as much as blind ignorance. They want to believe the gov't has the best interests of the people at heart. They refuse to believe there are shady people in elected office, or that they would have the guts to do something illegal. It's easier to blindly follow, then question authority.

Mmm, negatively stereotyping all Americans together in a sweeping generalization like that is always so wonderfully surprising for me, because I sometimes forget that not all people have the mental capacity to formulate intelligent opinions.

The saying Ignorance is Bliss is one of the most true statements ever made. People choose to ignore issues because it makes their life happier and easier. Also, the theory of "mob mentality" plays a part....if the majority isn't asking "why?" then it doesn't become a problem with most people.

the answer lies at the feet of indifference. e.g. the participation rate of voters in elections. the indifference displayed towards the plight of peoples who share the same continent, the indifference displayed toward their fellow countrymen. if we have one fatality our govt can count their remaining days, americans have lost thousands overthrowing a govt yet the support for the mother of one of them can be calculated.
