Stay out of the Market.
A "Stop Loss" order is an order to sell stock at a certain price below what the stock buyer paid for the stock so that if the Stock Market is falling Your Stock Broker has to sell your stock when it falls to your stop loss Price. This protects you from any more loss on a falling Market. In selling your stock it is possible for the price of the stock to drift down a little more before a sale takes place. Place stop loss orders an any stock you buy. It limits your loss.

For the ignorant, stop loss, as it pertains to the military, means that because of force strength numbers, a service member can't be released from his/her contract, when the contract expires.
In other words, because there are so many cowards, who won't do service to their country, those that are on active duty can't go home.
The only way to beat that is to tell everyone you know how great the military is and that they should enlist.

Do what Bush did to get out of his Texas Air National Guard duty. Call someone important enough to make some calls to the Pentagon and see what happens.

if you have not fulfilled your entire eight year obligation yet, you cannot get out of stop loss unless you can prove definitively that it would a be unendurable hardship on your family to be retained. That's usually very hard to do.. and threats of 'my wife will divorce me' or " i wanna go to college' won't work.

you can't. if you could, I would have done it.
And for the poster insulting his planning process, he enlisted for a certain amount of time. He is now being forceably retained beyond that period of time.

you can't. you shouldn't have joined the military if you are afraid of deploying somewhere. it comes with the job and you should have realized that when you signed the contract
