Ok, 2 friends of mine are throwing a big party!
I have given them Ideas and even let them use my discount at my job to purchase items for the party. Which might I say is planned for about 200 people. But I was sleeping in bed the other day and the phone rings. I was was chipper as usual and as I noticed i was on speaker phone. Thats when I was told "We are asking certain people to bring a variety of liquor. We put you down for 6 bottles of Champagne" I then laughed and thought it was a joke. The reply was "We want a variety and asking close friends to bring certain drinks". I then said "Oh well that's cool" Then we ended the convo and I thought is that rude or is it just me? In the past I have had little house sets maybe 10 people or a lil more and before they would arrive they would always ask, "Do you need anything?". I would always skim and see if I was out of anything and let them know. Yes they have brought Liquor . But it was out of courtesy at least I thought. Hmm

It is rude ... usually people just ask "is there anything I can bring..." when they get invited and even then a good host should not ask them to bring anything too expensive. Instead, the proper thing to do it to give the person a few general options and the person can decide how much money to spend and what to bring. For example, dessert, snacks/appetizers or some champagne, this gives you the option to bring what you can afford.
However, your friends might be seeing this party as something that you are all organizing together so they feel that freedom and ease of asking this of you.
Don't panic! Not all champagne is expensive - go to your local liquor store and find some sparkling wine (only sparkling wines that are made in Champagne, France can be called Champagne, so everything else is called sparkling wine.) They will have lots of selection and you can get some that is cheap - remember not too many people are true champagne connoisseurs so they won't know the difference, just pick something sweet and most people will drink it!
Good Luck!

It does not. It is an ancient other halves story -- and to be proper the spoon have got to be product of silver. The truth is that the the spoon makes surely no change. You positioned champagne in diminish case: it's predominant to have an understanding of that the tale refers to Champagne -- i.e the wine from Champagne France, however correctly any wine made by means of the Champagne approach works the equal (however now not low cost copies or coca-cola). If you set the bottle upright within the refrigerator door the emerging bubbles create a layer of carbon dioxide at the floor of the wine that seals the bottle and as a result the bubbles are preserved -- whether or not or now not there's a silver (or plastic) spoon within the neck. But to get even bigger bubbles, use a intent made fizz preserver. And if you happen to in most cases have unfinished Champagne might I advocate purchasing part bottles? They are first-class while you wish simply three glasses (a million.five each and every)

It would not. It is an historic wives story -- and to be correct the spoon need to be manufactured from silver. In reality that the the spoon makes absolutely no change. You set champagne in cut back case: it's fundamental to recognize that the story refers to Champagne -- i.E the wine from Champagne France, but actually any wine made by means of the Champagne process works the equal (but now not inexpensive copies or coca-cola). In the event you put the bottle upright within the fridge door the rising bubbles create a layer of carbon dioxide on the outside of the wine that seals the bottle and therefore the bubbles are preserved -- whether or no longer there is a silver (or plastic) spoon in the neck. However to get even better bubbles, use a motive made fizz preserver. And when you almost always have unfinished Champagne may just I endorse purchasing half bottles? They're first-rate when you want just three glasses (1.5 each)

It was rude in the way that they asked you. You have contributed to the party in a way already. It would be rude to decline now. You can always spend under $50 for champgne like Andre. But if you really want to get out of this, the easiest way would be to call your friend and tell her I am sorry but I cant bring the champagne like I said I would because I am very short on cash. Please accept my apologies but I could bring a (insert item here like a fruit tray) instead if you would like. Then if she tries to involve you in something else next time decline right there.

your friends were rude, if you would have said do you need anything they could have said if you don't mind bring some champagne, then you might ask how much should I bring, they could say about 6 bottles if you don't mind. They were wrong, I might not go to the party or go with the 6 bottles and then never party with them again.

You should only have to bring six bottles of champagne if your hosts expect that you'll get that kind of value out of what other people bring... if its a huge bash and the money you spent is good value for what you got, then its not rude. If they want you to bring so much cuz nobody else is bringing any, that sucks.

Normally, I would say that is rude, but it sounds like this is a major bash, put together by you and your other friends, so it seems fair to divide up providing the liquor. Just get the cheap stuff!
