I don't hate pit-bulls I just would never get one. I agree that dogs aren't bad it's how they are treated.
Unfortunately for me, when I was a kid we moved into an apt. complex, huge big, field behind the complex, I was playing outside with my own dog. There was a pit bull tied up back there. It got loose and charged, I got bit, and my dog was severely injured. My dog made it but the cops made the other owners put their dog down. I have never been able to be around pit bulls.
Bad memories, is all.

If I had to think about all of the dogs I have treated, and which breeds, by percentage of that breed seen, that were aggressive or difficult to treat, I would say that pit bulls on the whole were one of the nicest breeds. For that matter, I have only had maybe 5% of them be aggressive at all.
Now, if you are talking about other dog breeds, German Shepherds are by far the ones that are the squirreliest of the ones I have seen. In the area where I live, there are a lot of questionable breeders of GSDs, so the area is saturated with fearful and aggressive dogs.
Don't even get me started on the small dogs! Lhasa Apso must be Tibetan for "little biting dog." About 10-15% of the smaller breeds have been biters, in my experience.
It is wrong to condemn a breed based on a chance of doing something wrong. If that's the case, then all humans should be wiped out, because we are the only animal that commits serial murder.
Pit bull owners do have a higher responsibility (right or wrong) to make sure that their dogs are above reproach. The only way to make sure that this bias against the breed is corrected is to make sure that more people are exposed to the right kind of pit bull. Take them to obedience, get their canine good citizenship certification, take them to places as therapy dogs. A lot of the pit bulls I know would love all this attention.

I am a pit bull lover...I have two wonderful pit bulls and they are the sweetest dogs I have owned. Scrappy is 2 and she is a blue & white brindle with a long thin head. Red is 1 and he's just a lover all the way. He is a rednose with a big square head. Anytime I go anywhere with them people always come and play with them. I also have Rocky who is 2. He's a black and white cocker spaniel and he runs after the pits all them time. I wouldn't give any of them up. I know alot of people don't like pits because of all the bad things we hear about them but majority of those pits involved are abused, neglected and/or raised to fight. In my area we have the top 50 wanted dogs that have attacked and there are two pits listed in the high 40's.

No I have never owned a pit bull however, i have seen the horrific results of bad owners. I do honestly believe their are NO BAD dogs out there, only misinformed ignorant owners.

I don't hate the breed but I'll never own one.They have way too much energy for me to keep up with.And I know because my neighbor has one who I bring here to play with my dogs while she's at work.
I made the mistake of taking him to the dog park with us and he really wore me out trying to control him on leash.But otherwise he's a snuggly little wiggle butt who's a real pleasure to be around.
Having 2 male german shepherds myself,adding him to the pack really wears me out keeping them all entertained.

NO. But my sister is a pit breeder. Her 4 are good with her 7 yr old but I still don't trust them not to turn on him any minute.

No i have never owned one but i work in an animal rescue and we have had some pit mixes and they are the sweetest animals.

i looooove pit bulls i had 1 he was soo cute he was all white wit as brown spot on his eye!!! he was da nicest dog ever!! but he died....now i have a rott lol both of those dogs r awesome!! ppl hate on dem cuz sum rotts n pits r mean n bite lil kids but its how da owner treats dem mine were nice n da sweetest dogs u cud ever have!!! lol so screw all u pit n rott haters!!

i have never had a pit, but I don't hate them. I think that they tend to be agressive, but in the right hands they can be wonderful, loving companions.

No, but I've heard of dogs who just 'snap' and they go crazy. Even if the owners are nice. I saw it on Inside Edition, where this one dog bit a girl's ear off.
