Depends where you're going from.

From here in Australia, your best bets are British Airways or QANTAS.

However, from the US, I'd say BA also or Virgin Atlantic.

From Europe, British Airways - or a major European carrier if you want comfort (like Lufthansa) or a budget airline like Ryanair.

From Asia, probably British Airways, Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific.

British Airways is excellent. KLM Royal Dutch is also fantastic (it's my favorite airline), but you would probably have to connect in Amsterdam. I tend to think you get better service on foreign airlines....the American airlines have all cut back everything so much you're lucky if you get thrown a packet of peanuts during a 8 hour transatlantic flight.

I usually fly bmi from Chicago to Manchester. The flight is OK and the prices are the cheapest, but the cabin staff are a bunch of Nazis. Won't let you lie down on unoccupied seats. Buggers!

I fly to London often. My first choice is Virgin Atlantic; second choice is British Air.
