I have a win 98. when i scan for updates it says ms. Net Framework version 1.1........this is a single user computer,an old one too,,,,,lol,,,,1997....do i need this microsoft Net Framework?or is that for a network of computers.....it says 23.5megabytes......thats alot.............thank you guys

No. Unless you are a developer, which I doubt by your OS. It provides a large body of pre-coded solutions to common program requirements, and manages the execution of programs written specifically for the framework. The .NET Framework is a key Microsoft offering, and is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform.

I agree with Butchell. If you've gone this long without it, why risk breaking something that ain't broke?? :-)

FYI: Butchell is a pretty darn good computer guy. His advice is always right on the mark. If I'm not mistaken, he has his own computer repair business so he speaks from the "been there, done that, school of hard knocks"

probably not, if you have lived without it this long, you probably won't need it, if you try to do something online that requires it, it will tell you
