could anyone suggest the appropriate lighting to use for product and apparel shooting. Or a site for help.

Product photography can be done with as little as two lights. One light at a 45 degree angle on opposite sides of the item. Smaller items are photographed in Light Domes, Light Boxes and Tents to provide a white background with even lighting (the lights are a lot closer in this condition). Take some time to read up on it. If it's something you are going to charge a person for, give them the liberty of having knowledge found by other professionals, not something that's free. I'd rather have my car looked at by a certified mechanic, not by some kid who saw a diagram on the net.
