No, I am not, and will not be until some actualy scientific evidence comes to light. I have studied much mythology in my spare time and have noticed in every mythology I have really read into an evolution of the beliefs. For example, a god or goddess may in older texts be portrayed as evil, but then in more modern texts be portrayed as misunderstood and actually good. Subtle things are changed, and this leads to an "evolution of mythology" as I refer to it as. Now as I read the BIble, I noticed similar things occuring. If you look at the historical aspects of the church for example, you can see how some things were, for lack of a better term, completely made up when the church was split into two or more factions. One faction would create a doctrine or story or text or whatever to sway enough people to wrest power over the church from the other side. A perfect example of this is with the idea of an "antichrist." What the term actually means (when used in the Bible) is somebody who does not believe Christ was the actual son of God. During the time it was written, the church was seperated into two factions; one who believed Christ was a metaphor (symbolising the child of God in everybody, or how everybody has a pure, sinless aspect to them, or something along those lines) and the other believed Christ was a literal truth. The second faction came up with the term "antichrist" for the first faction, and soon people began to drift away from the first faction. Eventually, the second faction won complete control. It's small things like this that make me doubt the legitimacy of the Bible.

I hope that if you bothered to read all of this you now understand a better idea of why people choose atheism.

Yes, I am a Christian. The word "Christian" was first coined to describe the early followers of Christ. It literally means "little Christs". I try to be a "little Christ" because I have believed that He took my place when it came to paying the penalty of death for my sins.

I don't practice a religion called "Christianity" because I believe that the Bible clearly and specifically teaches that Christianity is to be a relationship between God and man.

God's idea of religion can be found in James 1:27.

There is no such thing as a "Christian."

Christianity, if it ever existed, died out long ago.

Paganism took its place.

additional comment:

Albert Einstein was an avowed atheist and never made any claim that people should believe in creationism or a creator.

I am a Christian because I believe Jesus was the Son of God, I also believe Jesus was God incarnate, or God in the flesh. Jesus showed us that God is love, grace, and God is for the poor and the outcast.

I am not. I am an atheist. I believe all religions are false. There is no god out there that will help or guide us. We have to do that on our own.
