It is the difference between loving an individual and hating an individual's sinful behavior. A man may have a son come to him and declare that he has "come out" and is gay. Will the man hate his son? Perhaps some will feel that emotion, but most will be grief stricken that the son they love, and continue to love, has just made an official pronouncement to do evil as a lifestyle.

Christians may seem "hard" on gays, but I am uncertain as to what that means. I have had friends that were gay, and they knew I was Christian, but we didn't hate each other. If this topic came up about God and homosexuality though, they knew I would oppose it the way the Bible does. The Bible says we all have sinned, and no one sin is more of a sin than another, except that one sin may do more damage than another. You can't contract AIDS from a small lie, but both equally fail God's standard.

The difference between someone who embraces an identity as a homosexual and someone who fails to do right all the time, is that the homosexual is determined to continue in his sin. There is no repentance and turning to God, there is the unsatiable quest for more encounters, trying to fill the void of masculine affirmation and then spiraling down to more and more perversion. God calls us to do right and turn from sin, and many people previously identified as homosexuals have done just that.

Some Christians speak for truth, some come off as the Truth Himself, which is of course wrong headed, but hey, they're people. At least they can repent. The following passage (below) addresses God's spin on the state of the homosexual. Does Jesus love everyone? Well, enough to pay the ultimate penalty on everyone's behalf, but not everyone will receive that love, because they (not Jesus) will refuse, and insist on gay lust.

(1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

"Were" you?

Jesus and humans are different. In the bible (I'll come back to you and tell you where) it says that being gay and lesbian isn't God like. God made man and woman, not man and man, woman and woman. So when ever a christian sees 2 men or 2 women together they give that weird look because they think about what the bible says.
Jesus loves all people. He died on the cross for all of us. HE wants all His children to go to heaven. But its hard because of how society is today. Read the bible carefully and seriously then come back to me and tell me how you feel about gays and lesbians. With all do respect. Some Christians forget that people are human so instead of praying for those who make mistakes they rather stick their nose up at them. Now remember that not all Christians are like that. So don't think that all Christians are up tight people who dresses in high fashion clothes in church and are in everybody else business because not all of them are like that. Really.

They want money of course. What else? That's what most people care about these days and to be honest I think christian people who have gay sons/daughters are afraid that once they turn Gay they are no longer in the christian Faith or belief of what God was and how he made the world for only man and woman to love and not by the man/man or woman/woman because that to the Christians would be Lucifer's work (aka: the devil) and I don't mind gay guys so i don't care what the Christians would say to me. Let Them!

First you haven't demonstrated either that Jesus loves everyone or that Christians are hard on gays. When someone stands up for what they believe and calls something sin that's sin why is that being "hard" on someone.
If you knew Jesus you would know how He even rebuked His own disciples and called the leaders things like "white washed tombs. No one was harder on sin than He was. Yet in compassion He called sinners to repentance, forgiveness, and to find healing in leaving their sin. This is what Christians do today. Its called compassion.

A most intriguing question! Hopefully I can provide a sufficient answer.

Jesus loves everyone, there's no question. Because Jesus was an embodiment of God in flesh, he was not prone to the problems of humanity, such being our inability to love everyone effectively.
Christians (meaning, the body of humans that believe that Jesus Christ and his teachings are the way to salvation) are humans. Therefore, as humans are imperfect, they are prone to making mistakes. One big mistake is thinking that they're given the right to attack LGBT individuals just because they sin, when they fail to recall a verse from their own Bible:
"For ALL have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God". (Romans 3:23)
"All" doesn't mean just LGBT. "All" doesn't mean just certain people. "All" means everybody that has, does, and will crawl the Earth. And that includes Christians.
Jesus calls us to love everyone, no matter their choices. Christians are just doing a bad job in general. (Then again, our history doesn't show us to be very good examples of following his rules, 'eh?)

You said Jesus loves everyone that doesn't mean the average Christian does. You are probably going to get a 100 post saying "love the sinner hate the sin"

In answer to the second part of your question, I'd be interested to know the source of you information. I'm a (straight) Christian and I hope I'm not hard on gay people. I have two lesbian couples among my friends and several homosexual aquaintances who I find no different to you and me, ie they have two eyes and ears, a nose and a mouth etc etc. I may not approve of their sexual tendencies or what I imagine (if I allow myself to) they do behind closed doors but I don't have to think about it. They don't flaunt their sexuality in public any more than I do. I don't like to see any couple, gay or straight, exhibit themselves but I have eyes and I can turn them the other way. Perhaps we Christians who practice our faith have learned tolerance. Re the first part, 'Jesus loves everyone'...there's only one answer to that. Yup.

Jesus doesn't love everyone.
He called pharisees 'offspring of vipers'.
He called others 'hypocrites'.
He was a tad hard on his apostles from time to time.
he is a loving guy, but don't abuse his kindness.
Gay people push the envelope too far.
You see, Jesus' father considers gays an aberration of what he originally intended.
Does that hurt you?

I believe I've answered a question similar to this question not too long ago. Jesus does love everyone. He hates the sin but loves the sinner.

Because they forget Jesus' teachings.
Jesus taught not to judge. I am a Christian, I have gay friends. Although I do not agree with their lifestyle, I am not going to judge them because of it. The Bible is against homosexuiality, but it is also against ALL sins. Jesus shead his blood on the cross for all our sins. ( not just some) We are all guilty of sin.
