modus operandi. Latin for mode of opperation.
"Modus operandi (often used in the abbreviated form MO) is a Latin phrase, approximately translated as "mode of operation." The plural is modi operandi ("modes of operation"). It is used in police work to describe a criminal's characteristic patterns and style of work.

The term is also commonly used in English in a non-criminal sense to describe someone's habits or manner of working, the method of operating or functioning."

Modus operandi. Latin for method of operation. Basically it is a term used by police to describe certain aspects of a criminal's behavior. For example, if police are trying to solve a string of burglaries they look for similarities in the cases. If five of the burglaries involve the suspect breaking in through the back door using a screwdriver to pry it open, the suspect is wearing gloves, they target only televisions, and they leave through the front door this would all be his/her M-O. Every time they investigate a new burglary with this M-O they attribute it to a certain suspect or group of suspects that are known to use the same M-O. It is primarily an investigative tool for police officers. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is modus operandi. What it means is a method of doing things like crimes. Criminals have a method to which they operate and it doesn't change. Remains the same in every crime.
