By 'unusual' foods, I mean foods that people in general would find weird or even too exotic to eat! For example, for as long as I can remember, my mother has been making this pasta dish with fava beans sauce that I absolutely love!!! My friends think I'm weird, but it's truly delicious -- and quite possibly an acquired taste!!!

I rip up bread and put it in a glass of chocolate milk and eat the mess with a spoon. It's really good.

The people I work with think i am totally wierd for my food choices. Currently in the fridge at work I have stuffed grape leaves, hummus, tabouleh and some olive mix. This is such NORMAl food it surprises me....but who can say what others will find wierd. If I bring sushi to the office they all come by my office to watch me eat it...one girl actually stuck her nasty finger on a piece to see what it felt like...needless to say i threw my very expensive lunch out. (she wouldn't even begin to comprehend how wrong that is). I only splurge on sushi on payday when we get our bonus checks once a month so I was ticked off. Once I took in a cheese tray to munch on for a few days with different crackers and they thought that was over the top. ITS CHEESE....but it wasn't Kraft and wrapped individually...go figure (and I am not knocking the Kraft Company, but do adults eat that????). They pretty much monitor my food intake and its funny.

They would freak if I took in a headcheese sandwich!

I don't know about "toxic" food, but I LOVE corn fungus!! In Mexico it is called "Huitlacoche" and it grows on the ears of young corn.

Huitlacoche even looks sort of nasty...it makes the ears of corn swollen and turns them a bluish/black sort of inky color. I find it *very* tasty...sort of tastes like a mixture between sweet young corn and a very delicate mushrooom. You can make it all sort of ways...in sauces, soups, stuffings... my favorite is little empanadas!

Hmmm....I could go for some right about now!!

When I make cheese dip (without the beef or Rotel tomatoes, just the cheese), I like to add a twangy taste by adding ranch dressing.

Fresh durian or durian ice cream. It smells like someone died in the room (or farted). It looks like brain matter, but it is so creamy and tastes sooo good. My friend from Malaysia got me hooked.
