The total number of verses in the Quran is 6346. This includes 112 unnumbered Bismilahs which occur at the beginning of the suras. (Note that the first sura has a numbered Bismilah). Without the unnumbered Bismilahs, the number of verses in the Quran is 6234.

i was stumbling for the same answer and after little research and home work i find this 100% valid and tested answer.
you can try it yourself.

Total Verses in quran are 6236

If you add 112 ‘BismiAllah’ with it [ 1 in Fatiha and no BismiAllah in Sura Tauba added in 6236 already] , then the total comes 6236+112 = 6348 .

Never counted but there is only one Q in Arabic and three approved versions in English.... They do have a different nuber though. VERY informative stuff on the site below!
