It takes alot to have to ability to build a house and raise children as a single mother so I would say this is showing your will power and you must be a great lady, I don't know why you should be single unless you just haven't found the right person yet, it sounds like some nice man should sweep you off your feet and give you a hand with the house and the child. So I personally believe that this would make you more attractive and marketable. This is a man's point of view. I had a simular situation, my ex wife didn't want to help or the step kids didn't want to help build a new home, but They sure wanted the land when we split up. So I figured that was cheaper than all the hassels of other things, now they live up their with a trailer that just burnt, and I think they are getting a new one. For some men it will make you less attractive--but only to the ones who don't have their own house, or feel intimidated by a woman who can take charge of a project like that. You don't want those guys anyway, you want someone who can appreciate your drive and ambition.

I love a woman that can take care of herself. Some men might not be so secure , but to me , it makes a woman more attractive if she doesn't "need" me, but chooses to have a relationship with me. If she can build her own house, without my help, she doesn't need me at all, and if she wants to go out with me, that's wonderful.

having a place where you can be alone together is what counts. and if you sound proof enough so that you can really enjoy yourselves without interference then i'd say it makes you more marketable/attractive to some guys.
me though... i'd still look at her personality and looks. i'm not in it for the material things. if she has a house that means she knows what she's doing, how she wants it, and how to get what she wants. and if she picks me then cool... it's nice to be someone who's wanted by a girl :D.

Building your own house should not matter...You should be concerned with getting hooked up with a man who wants you for YOU...If it takes a house to get him, you don't need HIM...
