I can't remove the one bolt on my car battery's (-) terminal because there is not enough room for the screw to completely come out. Is there a way to get around that?

You don't need to remove it all the way. Loosen the nut about 3 or 4 turns.

If it's the clamp-on type, use a battery terminal puller if needed. You can pick one up at any auto parts store for about $5.00. Do NOT attempt to pry it off as you may damage the battery.

And if you have a side post battery, the bolt isn't supposed to come off the cable, just unscrew from the battery so that connection isn't being made.

Back the screw out as far as allowable. Spread the terminal apart with a arge screwdriver and you should be able to remove it.

Loosen it and pry it open with a screw driver or unbolt the ground.
