DVD's and CD's are pretty much the same when it comes to the audio part. The only difference is that DVD's have video with it. All my CD's have always played fine in my DVD player. A portable one shouldn't be any different.

Should play CDs without any trouble. Mine plays MP3 (saved on CDs).
