~~While taking caffeine, tablet or in coffee, cola, cocoa, may bring relief, the rebound headache is worse than the migraine... AVOID CAFFIENE AT ALL COST IF YOU HAVE MIGRAINES....i tell you this because i get those hormonal migraines and they are not fun. Try ice to the temples, and tylenol... if you can not nap, try at least sitting quiet in a darkened room while you put ice to your temples, and let the tylenol take effect. avoid the tv and the computer, try listening to calming music. if you can get your doctor to write out a script... methocarbamol helps a great deal. again, i caution you to stay away from caffeine, if you have a migraine or not, because it will build up in your system and the rebound migraines are a killer!~~

Honey, if I had the answer to your question, I would 1) receive the next Nobel prize and 2) make mister Gates look like a pauper in comparison with my fortune. But seriously : you can try any painkiller like Ibuprofen (spelled wrong by the other answerer) and it is not going to help. I have 2 recommendations for you though. 1. There are some medicines (probably what you call the expensive pills) which you must take BEFORE the migraine crisis triggers off, but when you are already feeling, seeing, smelling the forerunning signs. These are called an aura. Once the migraine has triggered off these pills do not help any more. 2. Strangely enough some kinds of migraines are caused by orthopedic conditions. Some people with one leg one inch longer than the other are migraine sufferes. So perhaps you should have an orthopedist check you. All the best.

It is typically the same as a hangover headache.
Your body is losing water and therefore your drying out which causes your brain to shrink and therefore reduce the diameter of the blood vessels in your brain.
Since the same amount of blood has to fit through a smaller hole, this is what causes the headache.
You need to drink more fluids other than alchohol, and also take aspirin or something that will enlarge the size of your bood vessels. Tylenol does not do this, it mearly masks the pain, and does nothing to help the root of the problem.

I take a prescription called Zomig, 5mg.
Put a damp rag in the freezer, when it is frozen, rinse it quickly in cold water to loosen it up, then lay down with the rag over your forehead, or at the back of your neck.
Have two rags, one to freeze while you use the other.
Hope this helps!

Same as other migraines--you can try one of the triptan drugs if you get a prescription.
