Yes...ALL Dogs shed. Just some more than others.
People make reference to ShihTzus having hair like people so they do not shed. But our own hair does shed. Everytime you wash or brush your hair, strands of hair fall out.
A ShihTzu does not shed nearly as much as a Lab, but a minimal amount does fall out. And since they are a breed that has continually growing hair, just like ours, you need to keep it combed out so it does not matt, and regular hair cuts (4-6 weeks depending on length kept) is a must.

Nope. Their fur grows like your hair. That's why you have to take them to get clipped. Long haired dogs do not shed.

Shih tzus? No, they don't shed much at all, but they require frequent and thorough brushing to prevent mats. Or you can have them trimmed at the groomer's every 8 weeks.
