Create a portfolio of different types of photographs - wedding pictures, family group photographs, with more than one or two examples of each so that prospective clients can see your style. Also include some photographs of pets and friends for contrast and variety - you do want repeat business, right?

Then place varied types of photographs where people can see them - in a shop window on a busy street, for example. If your composition and grouping is good and your prices are reasonable - as a beginner, DON'T price yourself out of the market from the start(heard the term taking a small loss to get yourself noticed?), word-of-mouth will get you customers.
