I know for a fact that he put a lot of his close friends and some adversaries in there. But he only used their likeness for figures like Aristotle, Euclid, and Socrates. The image of Leonardo is in the middle. Michelangelo is near the bottom middle (slightly left).

This page tells you some of the characters:

The main person with the beard in the middle is Leonardo Da Vinci dressed as Socrates. The mopey guy sitting off to the left is Michelangelo. All the figures are signifigant people of Raphael's own day dressed like the signifigant people of ancient athens.

Do a Yahoo Search: Raphael's School of Athens. It may take a little looking through all the data that you will get but the information is there. A Yahoo, Google, Ask or Dogpile search will usually answer most of your questions.

I certainly can tell you. The pope's close confidant Thommaso Inghirami appears as Cicero (wearing the wreath and reading a book on LHS), Aristotle is in the middle in a blue cape and standing next to him is Plato (Leonardo da VInci) in orange and purple. Socrates with the big nose is conversing with some Atheniens, one of whom is Alcibiades. Pythagoras is surrounded by students, Diogenes is sprawled on the steps with a cup, Bramante (balding) and Euclid (RHS). Raphael appears as himself on the RHS edge of the fresco. The man resting his head on his hand at the front is said to be Micelangelo. The inclusion of this figure proved to be very difficult as the freso was complete when Raphael decided to include him.

Hope this is a good start for you.

I've included some links to good sites that talk about which is which.

The first one deals with recent re-evaluations of which is which.

The second is more detailed by details in the painting.
