You know, I don't think I ever look to see a persons points level - do you? If I am interested in what another member is saying I will more likely look at other answers they gave, rather than worry about their points level.
That is what this question is about, right?

absolutely the messages given and received!. points just makes u feel good for a while but the messages really helps in a lots of otherway too. first knowledge of new things, ppl's thoughts and opinions about something, a chance of comunicating with ppl all around the world.)take care!bye!

Absolutely that you are acknowledged for giving a good (or even funny) answer. I have corresponded with several folks as a continuation of an answer - I don't consider that a waste of time.
Getting a best answer notification for a question you didn't remember answering, reading it and thinking ... "yup that was not bad" is a nice feeling.

a little of both, more on the mood i am in at the time. i like to give good advise, but when i have given to much, i just stay on for the points... (but only when i am that bored!)

The points are equally important when the message is chosen as best answer. It means my point went across well and was fully understood and appreciated.
