Dogs and cats are red-green color blind and both excel at night vision and the detection of moving objects.

1.Dogs and cats see something like a human deuteranope, that is, they are red-green color blind (occurs in 4% of male humans). Simply put, this is due to having only 2 cone types rather than 3 (light sensitive cells include cones and rods). SO...scientist can tell that dogs and cats are color blind by looking at the cones located in the retina.

2. Dogs and cats have much better night vision for 2 reasons:

a. The have more rods (which enable night vision).

b. They have a structure called the Tapetum Lucidum.
This is a reflective surface behind the retina (area including the light sensitive cells) that reflects light back through it (gives the eerie shine at night).

Hope this answers your question.

Experts say they are, but I truly don't know how they could determine that. I can't say for dogs, but I'm pretty darn sure my cats aren't. They tend to be color-specific about certain things which I don't believe would be possible if they were colorblind. Maybe. Personally, I don't think so.

Dogs see color the same as a colored blind person does.
they can see at night better than we do because they have more rods than humans

They are color blind but some colors appear darker or lighter then others that is why they can be color selective. They can see at night.
