did your parents shove their religion down your throat?
did they bury you in it?
religion is a personal thing. time after time i've heard people say that they didn't believe in god because their parents went over board with the whole thing. whether you believe in god or not, your family can't have anything to do with it. that's between you and god or up to you. god knows that some people don't believe in god. it doesn't bother god.
i think it's important that you not come to certain beliefs because of other people's actions. whether you believe or not is up to you; and not them.

Well, it's not like God is some sort of divine vending machine, where if you pray enough, give enough money to charity and visit church every week, you can push a button and get whatever you want.
The benefit of living for God is that you're able to become human. I believe that humans were created to be like God--not in terms of having supernatural powers or something like that, but in terms of having a character like God, which would be purely love. Love, in the Biblical sense is not a gooey emotion that a couple feels towards each other, but rather the conscious decision to sacrifice oneself to help the needs of others, without thought to personal benefit or cost. Letting that sort of love define your life is the reason we were created, and other sorts of lifestyles that try to pursue wealth, power, popularity or whatever in order to find fufillment and happiness ultimately fail because that's not what humans were made for--just like if you put lighter fluid in a car, it might putter along a bit but it's not really going to work because cars were made for gasoline.
And don't think I'm saying that God is just some sort of abstract concept of loving people that we're supposed to somehow comprehend. He's a Person, and the way we learn to love others is not by simply studying the abstract concept of love, but being in a relationship with and being loved by and loving God, and that's why people believe in God.

It really is a personal thing and faith is something you feel and can't always explain or see, thats for sure. Once you find God, you will not let him/her go for anything. Do some soul searching, pray even and you may just be surprised at what happens. Imagine having someone that loves you more than you will ever know, not matter how bad or how good you feel abou yourself, this being loves you unconditionally and is always there for you, well thats God for me.......heres hoping you find God soon.

I believe in god, but i don't think it's bad if u don't. I do question it sometimes. i find it comforting to think there's someone greater than this world to help us out.
second part. I just wouldn't tell them unless it becomes a real problem, if they're a real family they'll be accepting.

I believe there has to be a being greater and smarter than us. As for Bush, I quit Church as they promote Republicans ( who talk Holy but crush the poor).

Just tell them and make sure they know you're serious! Don't be afraid to either, it's your right to believe (or not to believe) whatever you want.
