I am not an immigrant, but I think we need them.
First of all, as European-based immigrants ourselves from 200 - 300 years ago, we don't like having babies, thus contributing to a negative or slow population growth. Immigrants often have more children and run small family businesses; the backbone of Canada and the US economy.

Immigrants are legal, because the process of immigration is a legal process. Therefore, only those who have gone through the legal process of immigration are immigrants.
If you are referring to a process whereby those invaders/trespassers who are here illegally, will be forgiven and given legal status, I am NOT in favor of making their activity legal. They are criminals. They are breaking the law. They should not be rewarded for breaking the law.

Legal immigrants are screened for diseases and take an oath of allegience to this country to become citizens.
Illegal immigrants are criminals, are not screened for medical diseases, do not give the USA any oath of allegience and they are a billion dollar a year burden on our country, plus they send money back to their homelands this taking more away from our already declining economy.

That they come here to get better jobs to make a living and want to be treated and have rights, but to have "American Rights", you have to become legal, so if you are not legal, then you don't have the rights to do as you please like "Legal Americans", so those are the laws. Personally, I don't have a problem with immigrants, but I didn't write the laws and if you do wish to become legal, ho about starting with "Learn English, the "Official Language" of the U.S".

I have nothing against immigrants.
ILLEGAL "IMMIGRANTS" on the other hand is an entirely different story.
