where is a good but cheep place to stay there?

Ghirdelli Square; They have a huge ice cream place that features Ghirdelli stuff (sorry if I have it spelled wrong)
Check out the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art). They have neat exhibits!
Exploratorium: Great place to learn about science stuff!

There is so much to see and do in San Francisco that without knowing what your likes and dislikes are your question cannot be answered here. However, SF has a great visitor's bureau and they can be most helpful. Also, browse frommers.com for SF visiting ideas.

There are a lot of places in SFO.
Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Exploritium, Zoo to name a few.
