I've heard Garnier Fructis Long & Strong shampoo and conditioner help your hair grow faster and prevent breakage. I'm not sure they actually cause your hair to grow faster, but less breakage is nice. Try taking a multivitamin daily if you don't already and eat more protein. Great nutrition is really key to great hair. And I wouldn't suggest trimming your hair every four weeks, but less often. Hair only grows half an inch every month -- if you trim it every month, you're cutting off the new growth. It's just a myth that the more often you cut your hair, the faster it will grow.

The cetyl alcohol and behenyl alcohol found in the Long & Strong are emollients, and are not related to the very drying SD alcohol or ethyl alcohol. They do have 'cones, however, so it's best to use a clarifying shampoo every one to two weeks. You can use a cheap clear shampoo for oily hair to clarify your hair.

I also use a boar bristle brush, which supposedly won't damage your hair as much as a plastic or metal brush. I also don't think drugstore brands are the best thing for your hair, because they contain 'cones. You can find natural shampoos at any natural food store, in the natural section of Long's drug store, or at www.drugstore.com. You might consider them, if you can afford 6+ dollars per bottle of shampoo or conditioner. Natural shampoos don't contain 'cones, which can weigh your hair down.

I've been growing out my hair for a while now with success. I hope I've been a help. :)

it's not a myth :0)make sure you cut it every Six weeks I hear so many people say that there growing there hair out so there not going to cut it......Your hair gets the nutrients from the ends of the strand so if they are unhealthy and splitting they cannot grow properly .........you only need about a 1/2 inch every six to eight weeks.

and hair grows on average 3/4 to an inch a month so six to eight week is nearly 1 1/2 to 2 inches.

*Also store bought hair product's are not healthy for your hair that add a lot of alcohol and wax to them, wich dammages your hair and does not help growing it.

I have heard that pre-natal vitamins help grow if faster too.

The magic product is called Biotin. You can find it at any Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, whatever. They're pills that not only make your hair grow faster and healthier but they make your skin and nails gorgeous.
