As an American Indian, I can attest to the problems illegal immigration brings to this country. In fact, it's been a constant drain on the actual inhabitants for several hundred years now, and it doesn't look like it's going to clear up any time soon... I say with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

Maybe the attitudes of most Americans toward immigration-- including illegal immigration-- would make more sense if most Americans bore in mind they really aren't supposed to be here, either, and happen to be here because their ancestors did the same thing the illegal immigrants they hate so much are doing now... coming here to find a better life for themselves, and make a better future for their families whatever it takes, because they don't have a lot of other options. Admittedly, though, today's immigrants (illegal or otherwise) seem far less inclined to genocidal slaughter than those of years gone by.

I think it should be easier to immigrate to America. I know lots of illegals from Mexico. They work hard. They're polite and friendly. For the most part they are all around good people (at least the ones I know). If it was up to me I'd give them citizenship.

I think a lot of the racism comes from folks who don't know any Mexicans (illegal or legal). Everything they understand about the situation is fed to them by the media. It's unfortunate. They buy into all sorts of asinine and falsified statistics that say Mexican illegals are destroying the American way of life. Strange, I'm a natural born white American living in a community that has a large Mexican population (both legal and illegal) and folks around here get along great.

Sometimes we have to get around the language barrier but that doesn't bother me a bit. I don't think it's right that America is the only 1st world country where being monolingual is the accepted norm. I try hard to improve on my Spanish (not doing so well though) and the Mexicans try hard at improving their English. We always manage to meet somewhere in the middle.

AndyGravity brings up a good point. To expand on it: Most Mexicans are of Native North American descent. That gives them more of a natural right to be in America than most Americans.

I'm not exactly sure what your point is.

It sounds like you're talking about someone specific, but you don't mention him by name nor give us a link. If someone starts out only denouncing illegal immigration and then started making what you claim are racist questions against Mexicans (you've showed no proof of your allegations) I suppose he could have been riled up by things others said. It's happened to most answerers/askers on here (on both sides of the issue.) We should try to debate the facts and not make racist comments.

Sre you referring to hippieguitarist? He's just high buddy.

now to clarify some comments made here, my ancestors came here legally. Immigrants built this country. Not all immigrants are Illegal. Before the invaders came here a few hundred years ago, the native americans came here. Now they are still here, in smaller numbers. Now the United States citizens are here, in greater numbers, it is our society and we have our own rules. If you dont play by our rules, then you should be removed from our society. If you are Illegal, go home, and come back when you can play by the rules.

Perhaps it would help if you learned and understood the English language and the meaning of words.

Immigrants are legal, because the process of immigration is a legal process. Therefore, only those who have gone through the legal process of immigration are immigrants.

If you are referring to a process whereby those invaders/trespassers who are here illegally, will be forgiven and given legal status, I am NOT in favor of making their activity legal. They are criminals. They are breaking the law. They should not be rewarded for breaking the law.

I do not want illegals here and I am proud of it. Congress will settle this matter, and they are leaning towards kicking all illegals out. Those representatives who vote for amnesty (by any name) will be voted out of office.

The people have spoken.
