I used to bite mine too. I had to be in a wedding and I didn't want my hands to look ugly. So little by little I started growing them out. I took time to file them and shape them and push the cuticle back until they really looked nice! Then I started putting clear nail polish on them. I found it hard to bite through the polish. After a while I just enjoyed looking at my long nails and the desire to bite them was gone. Then I started putting colored nail polish on them. By the time the wedding came around, my nails looked better than acrylic nails! They were cheaper too!

Get acrylic nails. It's about $25 the first time and $15 every 3 weeks after that. But it worked for me after 35 years. You just can't bite them and my nails look great. Worked for me.

You could try that bitter stuff you can paint on them, that works for some people, but not all. If you figure out how to stop, let me know, my husband bites his nails and it drives me crazy, he says he doesn't know how to stop either.

Cutting your nails short will provent you from doing more harm to your nails as a result of bitting them. Also chew gum, that way you don't go crazy over not chewing something. But I just sort of grew out of biring my nails, I didn't really have to do anything myself.

Try painting them or using something that tastes bad. Motivate yourself by writing down what you want to do or telling it to friends. Or cut them really short. I was so used to having longish nails, i couldn't wait for them to grow back so I just stopped chewing. Get something else to chew on when your nervous--sugarless gum, pretzels, almonds. They're so much better for your teeth.
