War is the final arm of diplomacy. This is the way a nation gets what it needs and wants. Sometimes a nation uses force. It's not only about freedom, it's also about furthering our national interests, yes even keeping the oil flowing. Sometimes its about land (the Mexican War and the Spanish American War), occasionally it's about freedoms like in WWII.

You have to understand, we're supposed to have been brainwashed into thinking that "fighting the terrorists abroad will keep them away from home". Mindless sheep will believe a crooked shepherd no matter how ridiculous his motives are. As for myself, I'm not entirely convinced. If we are truly fighting terrorism abroad, then basically every country with a large Anti-American following (read: the rest of the world) will have to be invaded. That will be quite a military campaign, indeed. If we stay in the confines of Muslim nations in the Middle East, then where do we stop? After Iraq, do we invade Iran? And then Saudi Arabia? And then Kwait? And then Qatar? Thinking about it, the fight in Iraq is actually hampering our freedom. Shouldn't the troops be focusing on catching Bin Laden? Was he not the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks? Hussein is by no means a nice guy, but there's no connection between him and the planning of the attacks or the funding of Al Qaeda.

hey i agree, iraq has not one thing to do with fighting the terrorists. I mean yeah saddam was a dictator, sooooo how do we have the right to invade some country and tell them how they can and cannot live? Now, the war in afghanistan, i mean my bad, the war which we no longer fight because they dont have oil, i agree with that war. We need to find osama. O come on i am sick and tired of people who say wel u should just be happy we havent been attacked yet, ok people we have a greater chance of being attacked now because EVERYONE HATES US!!! we should have never invaded iraq but instead totally wipped out afghanistan

You are being too simplistic.

The insurgents in Iraq are for the most part not Iraqis. They are fanatics from all over the world who are going there to strik a blow against America.

These are the same people and have been through the same training camps as the people who would come to Dearborn and blow you up just because you happened to be sitting on the train that they decided to use as a suicide bomb.

Because they are protecting everyone from the evil people that want to take the freedoms that you enjoy away. Sure the war is taking place in the middle east right now, but what if more attacks like september 11th happened? the best defense is a good offense. We take them out now, we not only protect our futures, but those of the people who are oppressed around the world.

But you wont listen to me ive seen your last questions and you are only worried about bashing soldiers I dont think you ever served in the military you are using it as a front to make it seem you been there but you havent so just quit!

Ever heard of Hitler or Stalin or Japan? How did fighting in Germany or Russia or Japan protect your freedom? Duh... get a clue! Its jerks like you who would be the first to complain about the president if your town had to go through another 9/11. You think if we are nice, then everybody else in the world will be nice too. I wish you were right, but that's not reality.

I agree. I used to believe in that spreading democracy stuff, but it seems that the countries who used to believe in us, Italy, Germany, Turkey are more than unsupportive now. Protecting our freedom would be better served with troops on our borders and ships along our shores.

Has anyone blown up your house lately? Then the Military is doing a great job of protecting your freedom.

its not. it ensures more 'terrorists'. 911 was retribution. nobody hates us because we are free, thats ridiculous. by destroying their country, families & lives we create more 'terrorists' than we eliminate. germany wasnt a threat to us until they had all of europe stablized. japan was provoked. the patriot act, homeland sevurity & this admin is the only ones taking my freedoms away. iraq never took any freedoms. my house was never blown up & 911 happened on bush's watch.

I often wonder why Allah is punishing his followers. The worst natural disasters since the year 2000 have predominately affected those who follow Islam. For some of the following disasters, nearly 100% of the victims were Muslims. Is Allah punishing his followers for the sins of Muslims terrorists?

Top Ten Worst Disasters, since 2000:
1 Earthquake/tsunami, Southeast Asia, 2004 - 230,000 dead, 1,126,900 homeless, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
2 Earthquake, Kashmir, 2005 - 87,400 dead, 4,000,000 homeless, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
3 Earthquake, Bam, Iran, 2003 - 26,300 dead, 80,000 homeless, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
4 Earthquake, Bhuj, India, 2001 - 20,000 dead, 600,000 homeless
5 Famine, Niger, 2005 - 10,000 dead, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
6 Earthquake, Java, 2006 - 5,800 dead, 600,000 homeless, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
7 Earthquake, northeast Afghanistan, 2002 - 2,500 dead, 30,000 homeless, MOSTLY MUSLIMS
