Went to the dr. who claims I should avoid caffine. They are giving me Relpax. I'm just wondering if there is anything else I could do.

I suffer from migraines almost everyday here so I can be able to help since I can relate to this question. Okay,if sound is bothering you shut down the TV,computer,etc...earplugs help shut down sound too. If light is bothering you either dim down your lighting or turn off all of the lights, having a nightmask helps as well. If smell is bothering you put away everything that smells,or leave the room into a room where you can't smell for a while. If food bothers you, then don't eat nothing for a bit until the migrain goes away, don't have chocolate or anything like that.

All that doesn't work then you can use over the counter pills that can deal with the migrain, then put an ice pack on your forehead and part of your temples, lay down on your back for 2-3 hours. If all else fails and your still suffering, then go to the hospital right away to get treatment.

I hope this helps you out there. Feel better. :)

an ice pack on the top of the head or forehead plus an icepack at the back of the head where your neck connects. This does wonders for me! I usually do this plus drink 1/2 cup of something with caffiene, then lay very still in a quiet, dark room and try to fall asleep. Sometimes that will kick it and sometimes you will have to get more rest and continue fighting it for several days. I've found that aleve works best for me - as the migrain medications make me throw up.

Susuze - someone lied to you!

Best thing to do is lay down in a dark room until they pass. I would suggest seeing a doctor if you have a migraine at least once a month, as there are several medications which can reduce how often they occur. If you have any vision changes associated with these headaches - see a doctor right away.

Speak to your doctor who should be able to prescribe you the correct drug. He may also do some tests to determine what is triggering them. Mine are mainly down to severe stress, but diet and lack of sleep is also a big factor.

I find sitting in a cool dark room, take sips of water and sleep really helps.
A full blown migraine, if not caught at the warning signs can last anything up to 5 days. They are frustrating because in some cases can actually ruin your life because they make it impossible for you to function normally.

If you are unable to see your doctor they do some medicines without prescription. I use migraleve or there is ibuprofen.
Some people say to drink coffee as it contains caffine, but personally I find that a trigger for me, so it really is a case of trial and error.

Figure out what triggers then and try to avoid whatever it is. See a specialist /neurologist to be specific. Take Excedrin or drink caffeine soda. Caffeine stimulates the vessels that make you have migraine.

I feel for you. My doctor would give me orally disentigrating tablets, they were called zomax I think. I got the oral ones because the pain would be so bad I would litterly throw up. so any meds I took would just come back out of my body. they taste like childrens orange aspirins. I know they helped me but they are expensive. he would give me trial meds, but he hasn't gotten any more so now he gives me the replax also. I haven't had the need to try it yet, I hope it works. has it worked for you?

I take 2 excedrine migranes (none of the prescriptions have worked for me) Drink something caffinatted, then go to sleep, when i wake up they are usually not completely gone, but gone enough to function.

Yes - I really would recommend a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect is amazing!

...you just would have to travel to California or Europe, because the treatment is new to the US. It's worth it - for once in a lifetime!

Lay down somewhere quiet and no noise and lay staright down and take your hands and rub your temples and forehead also if that does not work and you have time take a short nap. If they are continuing go to your dr. and ask about Imitrex
