If you have the desire to go into the military, do plenty of research first. It is a great life with amazing benefits and opportunities. I'm assuming that since you posted this in the religioous section you are worried about "murder." (sorry if the assumtion is wrong) I found this to be very informative and loaded with biblical references

Going into the military you will get training on how to kill others in combat. The reason you are entering the military is far more important than this. Your reason should be one of heart felt need to protect the freedoms of the United States of America, not the need to kill some one. If you have an aversion to killing some one in combat then there are billets (jobs) that do not require you to kill. But the first reason for a military is to kill enemies that are out to kill you or your loved ones, or to make you and yours a slaves in some form or other. So prime reason for a military is to kill by defensive action, not aggressive action without reason. It is a very honorable thing to want to do. It is also a decision to put your life on the line for others. Hopefully you will not be killed or die from any cause while in the military. Most people entering retire or are discharged without injury. Very few people die from action in the military today. The branch of service also is a consideration. Coast Guard, Air Force, Army or Marines. The billets are numerous in each and the chance of entering a combat zone differs with each branch. Just something to think about. I am an ex- Army man myself who spent time as a radio operator in a signal company. Never saw combat though Some in my unit did go to Korea. They all returned home some wounded but most were in great physical shape at the end of that conflict.

You may have to kill someone in the line of duty if you are in the infantry, security forces (military police), special forces, or deployed and issued a weapon. However, it is usually for self-defense or in defense of your country. If you can't accept that, don't join the military. That's part of the military's JOB. If someone threatens us, we have to have the man-power to retaliate.

I would ask a religious leader about this, someone whom you trust to give you good advice, as you appear to be religious. They may be able to guide you towards an answer better than anyone on here.

If I was a man I would go into he military. My son is 11 and that's all he talks about. I think it's a great idea.
You could also be killed riding down the rode... You never know.
But you should over all be pretty much safe. Try the navy it's safer.

Joining the military was the best thing I ever did. I got to see new places, make new lifelong friends, and got me to grow up(quick). I was sent into combat in Iraq, and the bottom line about having to killing someone is that they want to kill you! I never shot at anyone who didn't shoot at me first.

Good luck

I don't think you should consider the fact that killing someone is religiously wrong. Under all aspects it's wrong, no matter the circumstances. It's not about religion. It's about another human being. Are you afraid of Hell, or do you respect life?

I would think about this alot. You might just have to kill some-one in a war, depends on alot of factors. But consider this, if your fighting with your buddies, and you have to start killing to keep you and your buddies safe, could you do it????? Think hard on this, you would want them to protect you too, wouldn't you?????
