Minimum 8 weeks, put cat food down for them at the same time as mummy cat and watch them stuff their faces. Mummy will teach them how to eat if they have difficulties. If not, phone your vet for advice at the soonest chance, kittens can dehydrate quickly. Mostly they get on fine though. How cute!!!

Usually kittens are weaned by their mothers. But for what ever the reason being that this is not an option; you can bottle feed them using a baby animal bottle and nipple with baby kitten formula (not human formulas). And feed them every 2 hrs. Do this up until they are at least a week old and then you can increase the hours between feeding them about every 4 hrs. Continue this process until they reach 3 to 3 1/2 wks. then get yourself a small steady bowl and fill half of it with more formula with a little bit of torn white bread in it, so the bread soaks up the milk. Gently place each kittens face in the bowl and then they will lick the milk and suck on the bread and chew a little. Once this is done successfully a few times a day, then gradually start them off with a little bit of Purina Kitten Chow and the formula; gradually decreasing the amount of formula. In another dish have fresh water for them. You may have to introduce water to them the same way you did for the milk and bread. Eventually they will get the idea of how to eat and chew and drink. Remember for healthy teeth, a kitten and a cat needs to have more dry food than canned kitten or cat food. Don't ever give your kitten or cat real milk. Real milk (the kind we drink) may taste real good to them, but they could get the diarrhea and worms from real milk. If you want to give them milk down the road, use something called Cat Sip. It is usually located nearby the kitten chow and other cat foods in your local grocery store or Wal-Mart or in any pet store. May you and your kittens live a healthy and happy life together! Good luck!

If by chance the kittens are apart from their mother and you are solely responsible for them you must know how to bathroom the kittens. Take each kitten and hold them with their backs on to your chest. Take a piece of soft toilet paper, nothing too rough and gently massage their little pea holes and their little bums. They will relieve themselves on the toilet paper and all you have to do is to continue to gently massage those areas until they are done. Take another piece or two of toilet paper and get them as dry as you can. This must be done each time you feed the kittens. I've done this many, many times over the last 6 yrs. and I don't mind it a bit. As the kittens get older, you can then introduce them to a cat litter box. Good luck! You'll be fine. If you need me, just email me any time.

9 weeks old. The mother will wean them mostly. The kittens will go to her to feed and she will walk away...trust me I raised 22 a long time ago. Just let nature takes it course okay? Take lots of pictures and enjoy the parenting cat mommies do.

about 3 to 4 weeks start giving them a little tinned kitten food just a tea spoon full at first 4 times a day if they won't take it put a tiny bit on their nose for them to lick off. slowly increase the amount until they no longer need to feed from mum.
keep mum out the way when trying to feed the kittens or try feeding them while mums eating her dinner.

good luck
and be careful of mum mine use to to bring home live mice sometimes 2 or 3 in her mouth at once and drop them on the living room floor for the kittens to catch lol.

I just had kittens 4 months ago, so I can help you. At about 4 weeks old I started introducing food to them. I took dried kitten food and mixed it with water until it was really mushy. Then (this is gross but it works) I dipped my finger in in and let them lick it off. Each day about 3 times per day I would show them a little plate of food and if they wouldn't eat from it I would let them lick the food off of my finger until they could eat from the plate. Of course each week I would make the food less mushy until they were eventually eating dried kitten food on thier own. Also don't forget the water too, and do that the same way, let them lick it off of your finger until they learn to lap it from the bowl. Hope this helped. When you do feed them make sure the mother isn't around.

When the kittens are 6 weeks old they should stop feeding off of their mother but it can take up to 8 weeks for the kittens to be fully off of the mothers milk and eating kitten food

YOU don't - Mommy-cat does. She will decide when. Certainly not before 8 weeks, and 12 is better if she allows it that long. If she goes on beyond that, you may have to separate mommy from babies for several days - which is truly a hard thing!!! They should begin on solid food around 4 weeks, but should nurse longer just to give them the best start possible.

I think 3 weeks or a month from when they were born. Try to temp them with a fresh milk, in a bowl, put your finger in the milk and see if the kittens' want it and then give them the bowl. A small bowl will work better or a big bowl filled to the top. Hope it works.
