Human Rights
Islam has been from its inception very concerned with issues of human rights. Privacy, freedom, dignity and equality are guaranteed in Islam. The holy Qur'an states clearly:
"There is no compulsion in religion."
And there are no reliable reports to confirm the old accusations that when the Muslim armies were expanding into Asia, Africa and Europe the people were put to the sword if they failed to convert to Islam. The best proof is that not only did the Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians and Hindus in those areas not perish or otherwise disappear, they actually flourished as protected minority communities, and many individuals rose to prominent positions in the arts, sciences, even in government.
The lives, property and privacy of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred, whether or not the person is Muslim. Non-Muslims have freedom of worship and the practice of their religions, including their own family law and religious courts. They are obliged to pay a different tax (Jizyah) instead of the Zakah, and the state is obligated to provide both protection and government services. Before the modern era it was extremely rare to find a state or government anywhere in the world that was as solicitous of its minorities and their civil rights as the Islamic states.
In no other religion did women receive such a degree of legal and moral equality and personal respect. Moreover, racism and tribalism are incompatible with Islam, for the Qur'an speaks of human equality in the following terms:
"Mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God's sight is the greatest of you in piety."

TO DONCAUL:

No where in Islam is it said that u ro to do what ure Imam states. An Imam is just an interpreter of Quran, that is it. He hold knowledge, he is there for u if u need answers. How the hell can u possibly b so stupid?

Also Murder in Islam is forbidden. The conquests which were taken during the Prophet's era were Islamic crusades, and dont get me started ont hat, cuz v all no that Christainas had their crusades also. U wanna talk about death, i can beat u to it.

Islam has no compulsions. U r not to force someone into beleiving into ure relogion, u r there to educate others and to learn from others as well, about their religions. in Islam u preach wat u bleeive but u let the people deicide. Islam is not yes or no, its wat in ure heart.

For you to state the Islam is a false religion is a sure sign of ure ignorance. By ure mail uve showed how little u no about Islam and a Muslim's beliefs. Please next time take the liberty of not answerin quesitons related to Muslims, if all u have to offer is ure disgusiting bias. this world needs less of u, and more of educated, open minded, respectful people.

No Islam is not a religion of free thought. You are only allowed to think what the Imam says is right. If your Imam says it is ok to kill infidels then you will kill those who you think are infidels. If the Imam says it is wrong to kill at all then you will not kill anything. One thought you need to understand is how and when Islam came into existance. In the Bible book of Genesis Abraham sent Ishmael and his mother out into the desert away from him. Abraham was to be the father of a great nation. His first born by his wife Sarah was the one from which the line of decendancy through which Jesus came from. His first son's name was Isaac. However Ishmael was born before Isaac but to a slave woman. So his birth did not count in the line to the Jewish messiah. Some 300 years later Muhamad was born and became the prophet that discovered that Allah is God. Until that time God was known as Yaweh. Also Muhamad developed his god by way of waging war and killing all who disagreed with his concept. The Jewish religion was not developed in that way, It was through teaching the person who God is and that person accepting the Jewish God as God.

Of course when the Jews came into Canaan they waged war to retake the land promised them through Abraham who said God gave it to them. They were a gentle people and did not kill every one in the land who disagreed with them, only the armies that came against them and then many of those soldiers were taken captive not killed. So there is a lot of difference between the true God and Allah.

If you spent as much time reading the Bible as the Koran you would see that difference. Freedom to think your own thoughts and not the myths of others is more important. But correct thought requires a lot of reading and rationalization to know the difference between truth and fiction. Islam is a religion of fiction. Sorry about that.

Yes it is because of all the beliefs and rules each Muslim has to follow. Islam is a complex religion that has important and hopeful beliefs. A Muslim is someone who truly cares and understands. I don't care if you disagree, and why do you keep asking about Muslims? Are you a hater or a racist person against religion groups?

Is Islam a religion of tolerance? Do a little historical review. Just some lowlights:
Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage.
Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.
A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia.
Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage.
Let's go way back. Muslims kidnap and kill athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.
Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage
Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.
Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.
Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.
Dead children. Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. Death, destruction and mayhem around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ... but publish a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban and all hell breaks loose.
