No, it's an ideology, just like conservatism, authoritarianism, and libertarianism.

I agree that Liberalism is a religion. Should it be worshiped and protected? Hardly - what other religion has wreaked the havoc that liberalism has over the past 40+ years? What other religion has taken a once-strong culture and brought it to its knees with petty bickering and jealousies? Or by presenting apathy and anarchy as worthy goals by calling them diversity? None I am aware of today.

There are those who now cast aspersions at Christianity, but anything any religion has done, even Muslim terrorists, pales in comparison to the destruction caused by the Church of Liberalism. Liberalists have invaded mainstream channels like Christianity and in some cases have effectively watered down the message of Hope from God to that point that they seem to have reduced faith to something that is no longer of value. But Liberalists and Christians are polar opposites. Even though Jesus was speaking primarily about money, it applies to all conflicting interests when He said no on can serve two masters. You are either interested in living according to God's will or the world's - it can't be both.

How has the destruction taken place? The family is no more, nor is it valued. Teaching in the schools does not exist anymore, nor is it valued. Communities are shattered by dissension borne of “diversity” so no one even knows their neighbor, let alone loves them. There is no advancement based on merit because someone might feel bad if they had to work to advance – especially if they fall short. Building character is no longer valued - instead we build coddled victims. Competition is no longer valued unless it involves cheating – and then anything goes. Because Liberalism has demolished the rules. There is no right or wrong anymore – only what’s in it for me. There is no cheating anymore – because it’s not wrong if you don’t get caught. There is no ethics anymore – instead there’s a false sense of entitlement.

So if your desire is to obey the tenets of feel good and do whatever you want to without pausing to consider the effect your actions will have on yourself or others, join and worship the Church of Liberalism. If you don’t comprehend the words honor, sacrifice, selflessness and humility, join the Church of Liberalism. If you want to tear down everything worthwhile that has been built up on the backs of our ancestors, you’re in the right place.

BTW: Jesus was never liberal - the Saducees were. But he was radical.

i have heard and read the argument that it is. Ann Coulter has a book out about that but to be honest i really don't consider it a religion or see it in that way. i think everyone over uses the terms liberalism and conservatism as if you have to be one or the other or there is no middle ground on subjects when in fact i think most people are exactly middle ground on most issues.
For example i consider myself a economic conservative and a liberal personal freedom endorser meaning i want the government to stay the hell out of peoples personal lives and not spend any money doing it

No liberalism is not a religion, but the basic tenets of liberalism have their roots in religious teachings of compassion and equality.

As to those who say that liberalism is morally relativist, do you christians still believe that slavery is permissible? Because it features prominently in the bible. The fact is that the bible DOCUMENTS the moral relativism of christianity over time and provides proof that it is not based on absolute principles of good and evil, slavery being only one example.

Liberalism is a political philosophy. It is not to be worshipped, but in a country that values free speech, those that express its ideas should not be silenced.

Isn't it interesting how a previous poster compared liberals to terroists? Didn't a liberal get in trouble when he compared Bush to Hitler?

Liberalism is like an anchor-less ship, drifting where ever the wind and tides blow it. It is the opposite of faith and belief.
